OnyxLight Communications is constantly striving to provide our clients with the best possible infrastructure available in the industry. Therefore, we have invested heavily in our facility to meet these demanding requirements.
This encompases several key categories:
Network
- Our redundant 100Mbit Internet link provides the base for all of our service offerings. We have two seperate 100Mbit direct connections with 3 Tier-1 backbone providers. We have aligned ourselves with Cogent Communications, Level 3, and Time Warner Telecom. In the event of one of the connections failing, all traffic is immediately switched to the secondary connection with BGP-4 routing. This ensures we will be able to provide always-on connectivity without degrading the performance of the network.
Security
- Physical Security is a vital component to any Internet-based service. Our building has no public foot traffic and is secured 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Access can only be gained through secure key cards.
Power
- Our facility is in close proximity to a large metropolitan hospital. This puts us on the same high-priority power grid that the hospital uses. In the event of a grid failure we benefit from the power company responding in under 15 minutes to restore the vital service.
In addition, we utilize APC UPS's to ensure clean, reliable power to all of our racks. We also have a backup generator system that will automatically pick up the power feed in the event of any type of external power failure.
Environment
- The environment is controlled by a 5 ton TRANE air conditioning system that regulates the temperature of the datacenter. There are also motorized hurricane shutters to protect the facility in the event of a natural disaster.
